This unique serving tray is created by melting a wine bottle in a glass kiln. Each bottle comes out a little different depending on the bottle type, size, color, and the type of mold used. The bottle when melted takes the shape of the mold it is fired in.
There are so many uses for these “slumped” bottles. From cheese trays, candle holders, spoon rests for the stove, soap dishes, to incense holders. We even used one at Thanksgiving to hold our cranberry sauce! For a larger list of uses for our melted bottles, click here.
Many are decorated with etchings while others have beads attached and copper wire decoration added. One of our more popular design includes added crushed sea glass to the bottle prior to firing. Shown is a sampling of the types we melted bottles we create.
